Hello all- Well in the last 11 days I have been out of the house 2 times. One was for a hockey game on Monday but couldn't stay through the whole thing as I needed to keep my leg elevated. Then yesterday to go to my physical therapy.
That was a little disappointing as I thought I would be able to do more at this point. The therapist said with ACL surgery you need to baby that knee for a month. That means very simple exercises and the majority of the time I should have my leg elevated and iced. A VERY MINIMUM of icing 3 times a day and staying off of it the majority. That really stinks. I will not get as much done around home here as I had planned.
I had been feeling so much better on Sunday that I did all kinds of work on the computer and thinking that since I wasn't on my feet I would be fine. Well.....I did find out first hand that I need to elevate my leg, above my heart, as I have been struggling with the swelling for the past two days now. I haven't been up and about much the last 2 days and have done LOTS of icing so the swelling is reducing along with the pain. I refuse to take the pain killers as they make me depressed and weepy. I have run out of Ibuprofin so am hoping that when the girls come home from work shortly they will run in to get me some. I know they will I just have to ask. The little girls have been doing pretty well with keeping up around here with the daily maintenance of the house. They even went out and shoveled a path in front of the doors today without complaining. Thank goodness for our neighbor Scott... he got his backhoe out and cleaned our yard out. We were snowed in from the highway side of the entrance. I need to remember this nice gesture when I get frustrated with him. It was so nice of him to do that today. Even though I can't really go anywhere it feels good to know that in case of an emergency I could get out of my yard.
Alyssa's boyfriend also came and got the driveway cleaned off so I can get to the Denali if need be. It is nice to have these young boys so eager to do stuff for me! :):) (I know it isn't because of me.....it's because of my daughters! :):) I think I will try to drive myself tomorrow to therapy since there is a clear path to the vehicle now and I am not on pain pills any longer.
Well, that's about all the news here. Aaron will be back next Tuesday and Amanda will be heading back to college on the 4th or 5th as she is heading to Texas with Jake for about a week before she starts classes back up. It is interesting having her come back home after being so VERY independent at college. It was especially hard on Aaron. He was still giving her a 11:00 to midnight curfew. That I thought was a little ridiculous but I let him fight that battle.
I still haven't mailed Dominic or Kinley's cards. I will try to get to the post office tomorrow.
Take care all and stay safe, warm and cozy inside if you can. I wouldn't mind getting out of the house a bit but.......
Love to all!
Tracy

Glad you were plowed out - good for Scott. Keep that leg elevated.
ReplyDeleteBummer that you can't get all done that you had planned. You need a laptop so you can work on it on your lap.
ReplyDeleteYea, this snow this winter is really something. It is so pretty out, though. I always hate the brown winters.
Enjoy all that activity around your house. My house is so quiet.
